Badge Printing

Badge printing lets you create professional name badges on-site as guests check in. You'll need specific hardware and the Gatsby mobile app to get started.

Badge printing works with the Brother QL-820NWB printer and integrates directly with your check-in flow. This feature is available on iPhone and iPad only.

Compatible Printer

  • Brother QL-820NWB (the only supported model currently)

Paper

  • Brother DK2205 Labels (2.4” width)

Device

  • iPhone or iPad with the Gatsby mobile app installed

You can download the app from the App Store.

  1. Turn on the printer

Make sure your Brother QL-820NWB is powered on and has DK2205 labels loaded.

  2. Enable Bluetooth

Check that Bluetooth is turned on in your iPhone or iPad settings.

  3. Open the Gatsby mobile app

Launch the app and navigate to your event.

  4. Access printer settings

Tap the cog wheel (settings icon) in the bottom right corner.

  5. Connect your printer

Tap “Connect Printer.” You’ll see options to select a previously connected printer or “Connect New Printer.”

  6. Select your printer

Choose “Connect New Printer” and select your Brother printer from the list of available devices.

  7. Name your printer

Give it a descriptive name like “Reception” or “Front Desk” so your team knows which printer to use.

  1. Go to your event

Open the Gatsby mobile app and select your event.

  2. Open the guest list

Tap “Guest List” to see all attendees.

  3. Check in a guest

Find the guest and tap their “Check In” button.

  4. Choose badge style

Select which badge template you want to use.

  5. Print the badge

Tap “Check In and Print” to complete the process and print their badge.

If you see a “Roll Type” error when printing, try changing the Black/White settings when prompted to print a badge. Some printers have difficulty detecting the paper roll type.

Printer won’t connect? Make sure both devices have Bluetooth enabled and the printer is in pairing mode. Try turning the printer off and on again.

Poor print quality? Check that you’re using genuine Brother DK2205 labels and that the printer’s print head is clean.

App crashes during printing? Close and reopen the Gatsby app. If the problem persists, restart your mobile device.
